Born and raised in Santa Fe, Representative Tara Lujan has a lifelong connection to the people, cultures, and traditions of New Mexico. Her understanding of the community is grounded in personal experience and a deep commitment to the place she calls home.
A Career in Public Service
Before joining the Legislature, Tara served as Human Resources Director for the Office of the New Mexico State Treasurer. Her professional experience also includes working as a campaign manager for U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján, where she gained valuable insight into public policy and community engagement.
Representing House District 48
Tara joined the New Mexico House of Representatives in July 2020 after being appointed by the Santa Fe County Commission. Since then, she has represented House District 48 with a thoughtful, collaborative, and community-centered approach to leadership.
Why She Continues to Serve
For Tara, public service begins with listening and ensuring residents have a voice in the decisions affecting their lives. She is running for reelection to continue supporting working families, expanding economic opportunity, protecting New Mexico's natural resources, and building a stronger future for Santa Fe and New Mexico.
